"In My Mind" with Marc Volt has been well supported by many DJs & Producers around the world such as: David Guetta, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, MakJ and many more around the world. How has the track been going for you?
It’s going OFF. It’s getting supported by many of our colleagues and is hitting the charts all over the world. We can’t be happier about this. It’s been so much fun to work with Marc (Volt) on this track and to see so many positive reactions is a great feeling.
Where did you get the inspirations for “In My Mind”, especially using the Soulful/Jazz vocal samples in a House track?
While growing up our influences were Caribbean dance, especially for their use of drums and melodies, and Motown, but also artists like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. The soulfulness of these artists and genres you hear back in our music. ‘In My Mind’ was created together with Marc Volt, it was so much fun to create this track together.
For your new Vietnamese fans, how would you describe SJ&RM in a few words?
Energetic, fun and party starters haha! width=
You came to Vietnam at the end of 2017, and just recently finished your Asia Tour, how is the Asian market for you?
We love to play in Asia, the crowd there is amazing!! If an artist brings a lot of energy in their set, they will get all the love back, the crowd just wants to have fun. We definitely hope to be back soon.
Do you currently see a rise in interest for electronic music in Asia?
Yes, we do. The market in Asia is really opening up. Asia is now finally getting the recognition it deserves. There are so many great clubs and festivals to play there and it’s amazing to see that the International Music Summit is also expanding to the East.
2018 has been a great year for you with many releases, what are your plans for the rest of the year and 2019?
We're hosting our own Sexy By Nature event on December 29 in Rotterdam and on NYE we have a massive show at HQ2 club in Atlanta. For 2019, we’re aiming to play a lot of big festivals and host stages with Sexy By Nature. The plan is to expand this brand to make it an even bigger party. We also hope to make some more time for studio, since we have so much inspiration. width=
Can you tell us a bit about your brand new label SONO Music? Why did you decide to start the label?
We’re super excited to finally have our own SONO Music label. We were planning this for quite a while and we’re very happy this all fell into place. The label allows us to create a platform for new music from upcoming new artists and it will enable us to release our own. So, it is basically a dream come true for us and it’s cool we can give a platform to other artists and producers.
What are your future plans for SONO Music?
Release a lot of music. We receive demo’s from so many talented producers and artists who we would love to give a stage to be able to show their music to the world. With the label we are able to put something on the table for dance music. Thank you for speaking with us and we wish you all the best in the future and to hopefully see you again in Vietnam soon!
